My name is Sarah Jane Toplis and for 20 years I worked in a highly customer service focused industry in Human Resources. I love working with people and my key strengths are empathy, strategic thinking and taking time to listen . Over the years the role of HR has changed from proactively helping people to more of a policing role, and my ethics were being constantly challenged. This, along with balancing a busy family life led me to question what I wanted to be doing for the rest of my working life?
I have always had a keen interest in complementary therapies and particularly in massage, having experienced the benefits for myself and both my children.
I made the decision that I needed a career that would provide me with the work life balance I needed for my family as well as utilising my strengths and personal need to be helping others, and so I embarked on researching Holistic and Therapeutic Massage courses.
I enrolled on the diploma course with theOxfordSchoolof Massage in 2008 and loved every aspect of the course. The practical side of the course was really satisfying and personally developing for me, giving me a heightened sense of self awareness. Whilst the academic fulfilled my on going need to absorb knowledge. Which I feel will benefit me with my Continuous Professional Development in the future, as a professional therapist I love to learn and apply new knowledge which will benefit my clients.
I was awarded my Diploma in Holistic and Therapeutic Massage with Distinction, my grades across the various modules were no lower than 86% and I achieved 98% for my case studies.
I am passionate about providing my clients with a professional caring service in a quiet, relaxing and hygienic environment.>
I can truly empathise with my clients facing the stresses of day to day life and the constant demands put upon them, whether through work or home life. I take pride in all that I do and believe everyone should be treated with respect and compassion.<
